Hey guys. Hope all is well with everybody.
Just wanted to give all the forum members a heads up.
Unless this place starts getting used more often, the plug is going to be pulled. In addition to that, the actual Audio Village site may close its doors as well.
Both the official site, and these forums seem to be floating in purgatory.
We barely gain any new membership. The forums get a post or two each week. Etc. Etc.
Apparently and obviously we all have better places to be, and I'm not excluding myself. If AV comes to a close, I will still pursue the independent music movement 100%, it will just be through more productive outlets. AV shutting down will not be the end of my voice in other words.
I'm just being honest here. I'm giving both the official site and the forums until September 1st. That is when I have to pay up again for the domains, hosting, etc. If AV and AVF is still a wasteland, the sites will be shut down.
I hope nobody takes this as me being harsh. Please don't. Let's face reality here folks. I'm just as guilty as every member here for not making these sites what they should be.
I do thank you all for the support over the years, especially to those who I have known since the Garageband.com days. Your fellowship and loyalty means a lot.
Make the sites what you want them to be, or walk away.

It sucks to hear that man, but I guess in the end we do what we have to do. If it does come to an end, I appreciate everyone for letting me hang my hat here, there sure are some cool folks here.

Eh. Everybody is welcome here. I wish more folks would have hung there hat here. It's certainly not a threatening atmosphere. I think a lot of what has to do with the lack of new members, is the lack of the old ones actually making this place their. With little to no activity, why would anyone sign up?
BTW Char, still waiting on that song to be sent my way for the git part.

I'm not giving it up. Everybody else has. Big difference. I didn't make this site for myself. I made it for you, and every other indie. They gave it up or never gave it a chance. Not me.
I'm not mad, nor disappointed really. Some things are meant to happen, some are not.

Hell I expected to see this somewhere around the 10 year mark. Kids now a days. Wants everything yesterday. So your only gonna make it to strike two?

Rich, you know I have always appreciated your support.
But what the hell was I thinking? A non-profit site for indie musicians?
Hell man, the site has some cool features and really has a cool foundation for interaction amongst artists. Why nobody is choosing to utilize that I don't know? Why nobody is using AV to post their music everywhere, I don't know?
Fact of the matter is, with the exception of a few, most people just don't care. They don't care about AV, its just another place to host their music. I certainly don't hold that against anyone. AV offers nothing as far as contests, or a solid and consistent review system (although, there again, if people would use it everyday, more folks would get more reviews).
Anyways. September 1st, the plug is pulled and I'm moving on to some other form of indie support. Hell, I may shut it down before then. What's the point anyway?
All I ever wanted AV to be was a cool hang out for all of us Ex-GBr's. A place to gather with profiles. A place to review one anothers music care free, etc. I just wanted to keep us all together. It didn't work, and actually failed in the worst way it could. I've met a lot of cool new musicians, no doubt, so it definitely wasn't a waste.
I appreciate everyone that hung in there. Some time between now and September, AV will be web dust.
This is the last time I'm going to even talk about it. |

The traffic at taxi is extremely slow as well.
It cascades backwards when you stop by here and see that nobody is hanging out, you visit less often.
I love interaction, but I am retired and have all day to do nothing. Most folks are not.
I have always liked it here and will be sad if it expires.
One thing I don't like is when a newbie comes in and places ten of their songs at once. What are they thinking?
Hope it picks up soon.
